Day 1. Quito - Mompiche + Tropical forest hike + Surf
We offer two remarkable travel options to get to Mompiche. The first option is to travel by car where you will experince the vast change in vegetation and climate just in a few hours of traveling down the Andes. This trip is very recommended. The other faster route is by taking a 50-minute flight from Quito to Esmeraldas and then a 1.5 hour drive. Once in Mompiche, we will visit a private farm where we will hike through a breathtaking tropical jungle accompanied by monkeys, exotic birds and an ocasional water buffalo. In the late afternoon, we can dive to a surf adventure near our hotel. Mompiche´s swell is famous for being a perfect long tubular left. (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2. Mompiche - Mache Chindul hike - Canoa
After an early breakfast we will go on a pleasant 3-hour hike inside the Mache Chindul Reserve where we will learn about the amazing flora and fauna typical of the region. After our hike, we will travel to Canoa where we will spend the night. In this small surf town you will find greate waves all year round. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3. Canoa - Machalilla National Park hike - Ayampe + Horseback riding
We will visit the gorgeous Machalilla National Park with its white sand beaches. At the park, we will walk from beach to beach observing the flora and fauna of this tropical dry forest, typical of the Manabi coastline. These are undoubtedly some of the most beautiful beaches in Ecuador. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Ayampe, where you will notice a complete change in vegetation. We will then ride horses through the rainforest arriving to the sea with the sunset meeting the horizon. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 4. Ayampe - Puerto Lopez + De La Plata Island (hike + snorkel or scuba diving) - Manta
In the morning we will drive to Puerto Lopez, where a speedboat awaits us to visit the Isla de la Plata, known as the "Galapagos of the Continent". Once we reach the island, we will hike to explore the island's flora and fauna, which is very similar to what can be found at the Galapagos Islands.
Optional activity: If you like diving, we can spend the day admiring underwater life at Isla de la Plata's Marine Reserve, with the opportunity to see several marine species that are unfortunately in danger of extinction (additional cost).
This same night we will go to the bustling city of Manta for dinner and an overnight sleep.
